We as Waves
In "We as Waves" Erin Gee collaborates with queer playwright Jena McLean to weave a world where the listener is encouraged to lose themselves in the pleasure and danger of sonic waves, and to immerse themselves in the sound of Gee's voice. Gee stares unflinchingly at the camera, caressing the air, using combinations of prerecorded, lip synched and live whispered text, playing with expectation and sincerity in an electroacoustic performance inspired by ASMR.
Erin Gee is an artist and composer who critically engages with sensuality, affect, sincerity, and presence in digital architectures. Her work in choral composition, networked performance, ASMR, VR, AI, and robotics implicates the human body in what she calls "embodied algorithmicity."
